Confirmed: Nintendo's next console to debut at E3
Kotaku reports that, in an official statement, Nintendo has confirmed the rumours that its next console will indeed make its first appearance at the upcoming Electronics and Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles this June 7th to 9th. Playabe versions of the console will be on hand, and Nintendo has also revealed that the console will go on sale in 2012.
The console is believed to be codenamed 'Project Cafe', and it's believed the machine will be more powerful than both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. The Nintendo Wii, for instance, was significantly underpowered compared to the machines from Microsoft and Sony when it first hit the market.
"We would like to propose a new approach to home video-game consoles," said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
Kotaku has even posted what rumours suggest might be a prototype of the new console, although it's not yet known if the images are legit.
