Crunchyroll expands game library with 15 new exclusive titles
Crunchyroll has announced an expansion in its games publishing segment, adding 15 titles exclusively to its Crunchyroll Game Vault. This move is part of the company's ongoing effort to provide premium mobile games to its Mega Fan members globally.
Crunchyroll Mega Fan members now have access to three new games: "Battle Chasers: Nightwar," "Dawn of the Monsters," and "Evans Remains."
Terry Li, the EVP of Emerging Business at Crunchyroll, highlighted this addition: "Bringing visual novels to Crunchyroll's game lineup is another example of how we super-serve our fans with entertainment that deepens their love of anime."
Collaborations with visual novel pioneer Mages have brought popular anime franchises such as "STEINS;GATE," "PSYCHO-PASS: MANDATORY HAPPINESS," and "Corpse Party" to the platform. These additions mark the first time visual novels have been included in the Crunchyroll Game Vault lineup.
Li elaborated on the significance of including visual novels, commenting, "Like manga, visual novels are a source material for hit anime and often expand on beloved series. It is important to offer that content to our audience as part of their membership."
The Game Vault is set to expand further, with 12 more titles being launched throughout July and August. The library of games will include the award-winning rhythm roguelike "Crypt of the NecroDancer," which will feature updates to support more devices and additional DLCs not previously available on mobile platforms.
Other titles making their mobile debut include the METROIDvania-adventure "9 Years of Shadow," the action-adventure game "RWBY: Arrowfell," and more. The full list of new and upcoming titles is extensive, reflecting Crunchyroll's commitment to diversifying and enhancing its gaming offerings.
Crunchyroll Game Vault initially launched in November 2023 and now boasts a library of 14 titles exclusively for Mega Fan members. In addition to these premium titles, Crunchyroll Games also publishes free-to-play titles such as "Street Fighter: Duel" and "One Punch Man: World," which are available outside the Premium Membership.
The Game Vault offers access to games with no ads or in-app purchases, enhancing the user experience for Crunchyroll members. The platform's growing library of premium titles, such as "River City Girls," "Behind the Frame," "inbento," and "Thunder Ray," is available on the App Store, Google Play, and Crunchyroll in over 200 countries and territories.
Crunchyroll's expansion into game publishing with these new titles aims to provide fans with a more immersive anime experience. Titles available now include "Battle Chasers: Nightwar," a turn-based RPG inspired by classic Japanese role-playing games, and "Dawn of the Monsters," a beat 'em up inspired by Japan's kaiju films.
Further releases, such as "Evans Remains," a mystery-thriller puzzle adventure, and several others, such as "9 Years of Shadows" and "Crypto of the NecroDancer," are set to further enhance the Game Vault's offerings, catering to a variety of gaming preferences and audiences.
