FYI, this story is more than a year old

Yesterday saw the annual April fools jokes doing the rounds, but occasionally a joke goes to far.

In this case it was EA, or more precisely from the official twitter account of their Frostbite Engine 3 team.

While jokes between gaming industry companies are usually widely accepted, this joke aimed at the Wii U has been labelled 'spiteful' by some.

The Frostbite Engine 3 had previously been labelled as 'too powerful' for the console to handle and the reason the company has ceased to make titles for Nintendo's flagship console. Although apparently there was no need for the guys at Frostbite to take it this far;

Frostbite now runs on the #WiiU since it is the most powerful Gen4 platform, our renderer is now optimized for Mario and Zelda. — FrostbiteEngine (@FrostbiteEngine) April 1, 2014

Frostbite will power #HalfLife3, coming out summer 2014! #WiiU exclusive. — FrostbiteEngine (@FrostbiteEngine) April 1, 2014

Good news, we have finally fixed and optimized our ‘netcode’. Uses quantum entanglement for Zero Latency connections. Exclusively on #WiiU. — FrostbiteEngine (@FrostbiteEngine) April 1, 2014

Since the tweets came to light, somebody with an ounce of common sense at EA has removed them.
