FYI, this story is more than a year old

Electronic Arts has announced Dead Space 2: Severed: the first downloadable content for its survival horror title Dead Space 2, which released today for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Severed adds two standalone chapters to the single-player game and brings Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdock (of Dead Space Extraction) back into the fold. According to a press release from EA, Weller and Murdock's adventure will run parallel to that of Dead Space 2's protagonist Isaac Clarke. With players assuming the role of Weller, a Sprawl Security Guard, they must battle a horde of Necromorphs in an attempt to make it to safety.

No other details have been offered except that Dead Space 2: Severed "will be coming soon for purchase on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network". Interestingly, there's no mention of a PC release, so stay tuned for further clarification as it becomes available.
