Gamescom announces new Sony systems content
A huge bundle of new content for Sony systems was announced at the Gamescom trade fair today, including more than 100 classic PS One titles for the Playstation Vita.
The latest software update will launch on August 28, with available classic titles including Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil 2.
To be quite frank, it’s actually about time this update happened, as I distinctly remember playing Crash Bandicoot: Warped on last generation’s PSP. Years ago.
On top of that news, four brand new games were announced – Tearaway, a Vita title from the studio of LittleBigPlanet; Until Dawn, a teen-horror game for the PS Move; and two fairytale themed games, Rain and Puppeteer.
Some new innovations will also allow for inter-play between the PS3 and PS Vita. Gamers can now save their progress on the PS3 and pick up where you left off on the Vita, while the cross-buy function lets owners of both platforms purchase a game once and play it on both platforms for free, or at a discount.
New cross-controller DLC for the PS Vita will turn the handheld device into an advanced controller LittleBigPlanet 2, as well as a secondary screen.
Playstation Plus will also be made available for the Vita before the end of the year, so finally players will be able to take advantage of their premium subscription on both platforms.
For home-consoles, it was announced that Assassin’s Creed III will launch with a free DLC package containing four PS3-exclusive missions.
The full-list of updates is massive – there’s new characters for Playstation All-Stars, including Sackboy, Dante, Spike from Ape Escape, and Ratchet and Clank. There’s also a new trailer for the Last Of Us, which continues to look amazing.
Which of these updates excites you the most? Let us know in the comments below.
