FYI, this story is more than a year old

God of War: Ghost of Sparta is the second God of War title to hit the PSP since the release Chains of Olympus back in 2008. Its predecessor was one of the stand-out titles for the PSP, with both great gameplay and some of the best visuals to grace the portable console. Ghost of Sparta is set between God of War and God of War II, with Kratos trying to seek out his brother Deimos, who was taken from him by the gods as a child. From there, you can expect to battle your way through enemies large and small as you fight to save Deimos.  Where Chains of Olympus had a mixture of puzzle solving and action, Ghost of Sparta keeps the boring stuff to a minimum, with enemies coming at you at almost every corner. There is never a dull moment playing this game, as there is always an epic battle ahead of you. One thing that may deter some gamers is its short length. No matter what difficulty you play the game on, you can expect to finish the main part of the game at around five to six hours. This is a slight improvement over the measly four hours offered in Chains of Olympus, but still very short. There is a set of challenges that can be tackled after you’ve finished the main game, though.  Sequels usually offer more weapons and abilities for the main character, but sadly there isn’t anything really new about Ghost of Sparta on that front. Aside from the improved graphics, the game plays much like every other God of War game. Not that this is a bad thing, but gamers wanting a change of direction for the series will be disappointed. Apart from a few flaws, God of War: Ghost of Sparta is still a kick-ass game. The graphics are some of the best the PSP has ever seen and the gameplay is full of brutally violent action. A great game for anyone wanting to let their frustrations out – just make sure the kids aren’t around while you play it.
