JBL debuts Soundgear Frames & Soundgear Sense in New Zealand

Tue, 3rd Sep 2024

JBL has launched two new headphone designs, the Soundgear Frames and the Soundgear Sense, integrating JBL OpenSound Technology.

These new products aim to transform the listening experience while maintaining environmental awareness. Both products are now available to consumers in New Zealand.

The JBL Soundgear Frames combine fashion and music, offering audio sunglasses designed with slim, flexible, and lightweight frames. Available in three translucent colours and two styles, they provide a comfortable and stylish option for audio on-the-go. Michael Sherman, Senior Strategy Manager at JBL New Zealand, stated, "Perfect for travelling, exercising outdoors or just strolling around town - the Soundgear Frames are a comfortable new way to listen to your favourite music."

The Soundgear Frames present a unique listening experience as they leave the ears open, allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings. The frames house ultra-thin high amplitude speakers, enhanced by JBL's algorithm for bass and frequency division processing. This delivers high-quality audio, whether users prefer RnB, EDM, or other genres. The product also includes an advanced beamforming 2-mic array for calls, supported by dual-module environmental noise cancellation. The frames offer 8 hours of playtime, with a quick charge providing an additional 2 hours of use.

IP54 certified water resistance ensures the Soundgear Frames are suitable for all weather conditions, enhancing their utility during varied outdoor activities. Controls are conveniently located on the frames, and users can further customise their audio experience via the JBL Headphones app. The semi-transparent lenses block UV A/B and can be replaced with prescription lenses. The Soundgear Frames are priced at RRP$199.95 and available through major New Zealand retailers.

The JBL Soundgear Sense utilises JBL OpenSound Technology to deliver high audio quality while keeping users attuned to their environment. Equipped with 16.2mm drivers and a bass-enhancing algorithm, these headphones provide clear vocals and punchy bass. Michael Sherman noted, "Kiwis looking for a headphone that keeps them connected to their surroundings, especially while performing outdoor activities like running or cycling, will appreciate the functionality of the Soundgear Sense."

The Soundgear Sense features rotational and adjustable ear hooks for personalised comfort, designed to fit without blocking the ear canal. This reduces sound leakage and maintains privacy. The device supports multi-point connectivity, allowing easy switches between connected devices. Four integrated microphones assure quality call performance in varied environments. The Soundgear Sense, like the Soundgear Frames, has an IP54 rating, ensuring resistance to sweat, dust, and rainfall.

The detachable neckband provides additional security during physical activities, making the headphones suitable for a range of uses from office work to outdoor excursions. The JBL Soundgear Sense is also available at RRP$199.95, accessible in black and white through various retailers in New Zealand.
