LG enters NZ HVAC market with smart air conditioners

Fri, 23rd Aug 2024

LG Electronics New Zealand has entered the New Zealand HVAC market with the introduction of its range of residential split system air conditioners. The launch includes the WS and WH series, which feature LG ThinQ technology and are distributed in partnership with Corys Electrical.

The newly introduced air conditioners are equipped with LG's Smart Inverter Compressor. This technology enables the units to adjust and vary speed to maintain the desired room temperature, resulting in fewer temperature fluctuations and consistent cooling. The air conditioners are also built with smart connectivity features, allowing users to track real-time power usage through a four-step Active Energy Control feature. This functionality helps reduce power consumption by adjusting energy levels based on usage needs.

The units can be operated remotely via smartphones using the LG ThinQ app and are compatible with voice command through Google-enabled smart speakers. This provides users with the convenience of controlling their home's temperature and energy usage from virtually anywhere.

Jae Lim, General Manager of LG Electronics New Zealand, highlighted the benefits of the new range, especially during extreme weather conditions. "We know that during the warmer months, keeping the home cool is a must. Our residential split system air conditioners now available in New Zealand allow Kiwis to conveniently manage their home's temperature and energy usage remotely, track power usage, and avoid surprises on their power bill," said Lim.

In addition to energy efficiency and remote control features, the WS and WH series of air conditioners are equipped with additional functions designed to enhance user comfort and wellness. These include a skew fan that maximises comfort while eliminating unnecessary noise, and an auto-cleaning feature that minimises the presence of bacteria, mould, and odours in the indoor unit.

Lim also emphasised the long-term reliability of the products. "Both the WS and WH series are equipped with LG's Smart Inverter Compressor that features a 10-year parts warranty. At LG, we are committed to providing innovative solutions that cater to the everyday lives of our customers. With our air conditioners, Kiwis can feel peace of mind knowing they will enjoy a comfortable home for many years to come," Lim added.

The strategic partnership with Corys Electrical aims to ensure that New Zealanders across the country can access and benefit from these advanced cooling and heating technologies. The company expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are excited to be partnering with Corys Electrical, a nationwide franchise. This will allow all Kiwis to access the quality-of-life benefits that having a smart LG air conditioner can bring to any home or dwelling."

The range of LG residential split system air conditioners is available nationwide in New Zealand, with specific models in the WH and WS series offering different cooling capacities to suit various needs. Some models under the WH series include WH09SK-18 with a cooling capacity of 2.5 and WH34SK-18 with a cooling capacity of 9.4, among others. The WS series includes models such as WS09TWS with a cooling capacity of 2.6 and WS24SL-23 with a cooling capacity of 7.1.
