LinkedIn, Apple top tech growth list

Business networking site LinkedIn and tech titan Apple have topped a Forbes list of the 25 fastest-growing tech companies in the US.

The list discounts businesses with revenue below US$150 million and a market value below $500 million, but even so compiler Eric Savitz calls Apple's appearance 'an astonishing feat for a company of its size'.

Indeed, the company has a massive US$142 billion in sales for the last 12 months, while the next-closest on the list, Cognizant Technology Solutions, has US$6 billion - and is appearing for a record tenth year in a row.

The businesses are ranked by their average sales growth for the last three years. LinkedIn came out on top with 89%, followed by Apple on 43% and Qlik Technologies on 40%.

Aruba Networks and Riverbed Technology join Cognizant Technology Solutions in 7th place with 31% growth, and Sourcefire and SolarWinds share 11th with 29%.
