Logitech G to sponsor Spark Game Arena Live in Auckland
Logitech G is set to make a significant impact as one of the premiere sponsors of Spark Game Arena Live. Scheduled to take place on 7 September 2024 at Spark Arena in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, the festival will showcase Logitech G's latest gaming technology, illustrating their growing role in New Zealand's gaming landscape.
With the increasing popularity of sim racing, Logitech G is intensifying the excitement with a thrilling competition. In partnership with McLaren Auckland, their activation space will feature the G923 racing wheel and PRO Wheels, complemented by the McLaren Coupe 750S. The centrepiece of this collaboration is the Logitech G Hot Lap Challenge, where participants will race on the Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit in Forza Motorsport.
Competitors in the Hot Lap Challenge will vie for the grand prize: a set of Logitech G PRO wheels and pedals valued at NZD $2,799.85, and a real-world McLaren hot lap experience at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park. "At Logitech G, we're all about pushing the limits of performance and excitement," stated Fabien Degueldre, General Manager at Logitech. "Partnering with McLaren Auckland and bringing this adrenaline-pumping experience to Spark Game Arena Live is a perfect way to showcase our innovative technology and fuel the passion of New Zealand's gaming community. We can't wait to see who will take the virtual track and race for the ultimate prize."
Simon Evans, McLaren Brand Manager, echoed this sentiment, saying, "Logitech's commitment to delivering cutting-edge gaming experiences mirrors our dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology and performance. This partnership not only strengthens the global bond between McLaren and Logitech G but also brings it to life here in New Zealand, allowing us to connect with an audience that shares our passion for precision, speed, and the thrill of competition."
Spark Game Arena Live is expected to attract up to 8,000 attendees across two sessions, each five hours long. It aims to be a landmark event, merging the best of gaming with a live audience. A highlight of the morning session will be the second instalment of "The Rise Cup featuring Fortnite," in collaboration with LetsPlay.Live. Building on last year's success, which saw over 1,400 participants, this tournament will host contests for the title of ultimate champion. Games will be played on stations equipped with a range of Logitech G products, including the PRO X TKL, PRO X superlight 2, PRO X 2, and the G840 XL desk mat.
Players in The Rise Cup will have the opportunity to compete for a share of a Fortnite prize pool, which exceeds NZD $240,000. Prizes will include Logitech G equipment, cash, and other rewards. The tournament's action will be broadcast live to Fortnite enthusiasts worldwide.
Additionally, attendees with tickets will have access to interactive experiences, live finals of an Esports tournament, and guest appearances from internationally recognised professional gamers. Notable guests include Sydney-based Twitch star Taylor Morgan and the hosts of New Zealand's Extremely Casual Gamers podcast, Ellie Hardwood and Guy Mansell.
Spark Game Arena Live general admission tickets start from NZD $40.05. Further information and ticketing details are available on the event's official website.
