FYI, this story is more than a year old

There’s just one last hurdle to jump before PS3 owners can finally get their hands on BioWare’s action-RPG – a week-long delay caused by flooding.

EA sent out a short statement last night explaining that the floods in Queensland have had a knock-on effect on the game’s release.

“The release date for Mass Effect 2 PS3 has now been pushed back to the 27th January, 2011. This is due to a logistics issue caused by the QLD floods,” said the company.

Mass Effect 2 went live on the PlayStation Network in the US today. We’re checking with EA to see ME2 will also hit our PSN in a timely fashion.

If you’re playing it now though, let us know in the comments. We’re in the office and the PlayStation is at home.

Update: Since publication online retailer MightyApe has since confirmed that , "Stock is held up in Australia because of the floods."
