Microsoft's dreaming of a white Xbox One...

Tue, 27th Aug 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Microsoft is developing a white variant of its next-gen offering but it will not be available to the public.

The Verge discovered a Reddit poster revealing Microsoft’s plans to give away the white version of the console to any employees working in Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business – which is the division responsible for Xbox.

Along with a white version of the Xbox One, employees will receive one year’s Xbox Live subscription, games and a special achievement on launch day.

The front of the console will also contain a special engraving saying “I made this”, with The Verge confirming with Microsoft that this give away is genuine.

It could appear strange that since the Xbox One’s unveiling back in May, Microsoft have purely focused on the black version of the next-gen console that will go head to head with the PS4, while remaining tight lipped about any other colour variants.

Microsoft has been approached to see if consumers can expect to purchase the console in other colours, but they are yet to respond.
