Netflix's coming to NZ - That's right, you heard me...

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s bloody Netflix! Omg I can’t even.

According to Inside Film and “unnamed executives at the US studios", Netflix is planning to launch into Australia and New Zealand in the first quarter of 2015.

Do you know what this means?? Everything.

Netflix is a low-cost, all-you-can-eat movie and television smorgasboard, with a whole bunch of original and awesome content thrown in for good measure. Netflix is a multi-billion operation with around 50 million subscribers, but, unfortunately, isn’t available here.

Netflix teased New Zealand a couple years ago but our (then) low data caps were a massive turn off. So no Netflix for us. But now we’ve got tons of options in that regard, not to mention plenty of unlimited plans, so that excuse is no longer valid. Bring on Netflix.

There are already plenty of streaming services in play that New Zealanders can subscribe to, including Australia’s Quickflix, not to mention the workarounds people already use to access Netflix and illegal downloads. There’s also Telecom’s streaming service that is getting ready to launch too.

But currently, Netflix is leading the market with wanted content and I imagine it if the rumours are true, subscriptions will be snapped up quick fast.

I just want to see the fourth and final season of The Killing that Netflix so kindly ordered after it was cancelled (again).

Thanks Netflix. See you soon.
