News: 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro rumours, getting ready for Mountain Lion, Chrome updates, and more!
MacRumors has the scoop relating to a possible Retina version of the 13" MacBook Pro. According to their analyst source, who was at least somewhat correct in predicting the launch of the MacBook Pro with Retina display introduced as a separate product line, as well as the prediction of the 17' MacBook Pro being dropped from the lineup entirely, a new 13" MacBook Pro will possibly come after August at the earliest, with an October timeframe a more likely scenario. A September production ramp-up for the new 13" MacBook Pro with Retina display seems likely, according to the analyst. TUAW has a series of posts that will definitely come in handy when it's time to get ready for Mountain Lion. Their posts so far outline a series of tasks that will help your Mountain Lion transition go that much smoother: first there's a post on checking for compatibility, then a post on clearing out all the unnecessary junk that your Mac might have accumulated. Then you can always check if your Mac is up to scratch, hardware wise — and last but not least, their latest post describes a few of the backup strategies to undertake before the big move.
The new MacBook Pro with Retina display means that many apps will have to wait for updates before their graphics are up to scratch. Chrome is one of the earliest apps with Retina display compatibility, but only if you're using the developer build.
