News: Apple's March 7 event, Twitter over Facebook, Journey on the Mac, and more!
Wed, 29th Feb 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Apple has officially announced their March 7th event, and have begun issuing invitations to the press to the even which will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10am. Due to timezone differences we'll likely see the event this side of Thursday, and as for what will actually be announced at the event, there's no sense in denying it won't be anything but the iPad 3, but we'll see. Mountain Lion brings the same "share sheets" that you might have seen in iOS devices, and those same share sheets have the same options as their iOS counterparts — that is, Twitter is featured as the social network of choice, even over the equally-as-universal Facebook. But why is that? Why did Apple choose Twitter over Facebook for their social networking integration, when they could have so easily chosen both?

There's a popular social network that's exclusively on the iPhone, and by all respects, Path is very much like Instagram. Now there's a Mac app, too — Journey is a completely unofficial Mac app that works with Path, and it's very good.

A little-known tip from OS X Daily says there's a way to find and scan for wireless networks on the Mac using the command line. They walk you through the process.
