No iOS 6 for original iPad: rumour
Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) kicks off overnight tonight, with the focus expected to be on the new version of the company’s mobile operating system, iOS 6.
However, a post on a Chinese forum has sparked strong rumours that the original iPad won’t be supported in the update, despite being only just over two years old.
First reported on MacRumours, the post on the WeiPhone.com forum offers a list of iOS 6 beta links that are expected to go live as the conference kicks off. Each link corresponds to an Apple device; also absent along with the original iPad is the third-generation iPod Touch.
Of course, the absence of a link is no evidence either way, and we’ll just have to wait and see what Apple announces at its keynote presentation tonight.
The main feature of iOS 6 is expected to be Apple’s new mapping solution, as well as possible Facebook integration and support for Siri on iPad. We can also expect some announcements about OS X Mountain Lion and iCloud.
