OPPO unveils Watch X2 Mini in New Zealand from NZD $499
OPPO has released its Watch X2 Mini smartwatch in New Zealand, offering a compact wearable with a focus on both fashion and wellness features.
Described as OPPO's most compact smartwatch to date, the Watch X2 Mini features a 1.32-inch circular display intended to suit wearers in various environments, from gyms to workplaces. It combines a lightweight build with design elements aimed at style-conscious consumers.
Morgan Halim, OPPO New Zealand General Manager, said the brand developed the Watch X2 Mini for New Zealanders seeking both performance and aesthetics. In his words, "We all want something that works hard but looks good doing it. With the Watch X2 Mini, we've packed pro-grade health features and smart everyday tools into our most stylish and compact design yet."
The Watch X2 Mini is available in two finishes: Glimmer Gold, featuring an 18K rose gold-plated stainless steel case and a white leather strap, and Nebula Black, which combines a black stainless steel case and a black rubber strap. The Glimmer Gold model is polished to high jewellery standards, while the Nebula Black is designed as a sportier alternative with everyday versatility.
Customisation options include a selection of built-in watch faces and the ability for users to upload personal photos or short videos for a tailored appearance. This customisability is presented alongside advanced health and fitness tracking capabilities, which are central to OPPO's pitch for the device.
"We know health and wellbeing are key priorities for New Zealanders," said Halim. "That's why the Watch X2 Mini goes beyond the basics, offering in-depth fitness metrics and holistic wellness insights - all in a device that's easy to wear, customisable and built to move with you."
Fitness modes
The smartwatch includes support for more than 100 workout modes, with particular emphasis on 11 professional-level activities such as tennis, skiing and rowing. In Pro Running Mode, users gain metrics including ground contact time and stride length. A Fat Burning Evaluation tool assists users in maintaining an optimal heart rate zone, further supporting fitness objectives.
The Watch X2 Mini holds an IP68 and 5ATM water resistance rating, allowing wearers to use it during swimming and day-to-day activities involving water. The device also includes automatic exercise detection for select activities, negating the need for manual tracking initiation.
Wellness features
Alongside standard health monitoring such as heart rate and blood oxygen tracking, the device offers multi-dimensional sleep monitoring. A proprietary algorithm can identify potential breathing issues during rest. Additional features include a menstrual cycle tracker, fall detection, and the Mind and Body Evaluation, which considers various physiological and lifestyle factors to assess stress and fatigue levels.
The watch also comes with animated pet-themed Healing Watch Faces, which offer a simple visual representation of wellness status, and real-time prompts that encourage mindful behaviour.
Battery and charging
The Watch X2 Mini is designed to operate for up to 60 hours under Smart Mode and up to one week in Power Saver Mode. Its dual-chipset system, consisting of the Snapdragon W5 and BES2800BP chips, allows the device to switch between high-performance and energy-saving modes as required. OPPO's Watch VOOC Flash Charging technology facilitates a full day of use from a 10-minute charge.
Integration with Google services
Operating on Wear OS by Google, the Watch X2 Mini enables users to access notifications, control music playback via YouTube Music, navigate with Google Maps, and make contactless payments with Google Wallet. Camera Remote functionality offers the ability to control a paired smartphone camera, while Short Video Playback Control supports basic video controls for certain OPPO devices.
The introduction of Google's Gemini AI assistant also extends the smart capabilities of the device.
The OPPO Watch X2 Mini is priced at NZD $499 and is presently available for purchase in New Zealand.
