Red Dead Redemption 2 is one available on PC
On 5th November, PC owners will be getting their own enhanced version of Red Dead Redemption 2. The developers, Rockstar, have deemed the PC release to be the definitive version of their open-world Western epic.
Since its release a year ago, Rockstar's Wild West simulator has been my go-to game. I'm playing it on the PlayStation 4 Pro, and it looks astounding. That vast expansive environment that is protagonist Arthur Morgan's realm never gets old. With Red Dead Online, Rockstar have extended the gameplay with a narrative multiplayer mode. The new PC version is set to top all that.
Offering more than sixty hours of gameplay, the single-player story mode has players robbing trains, avoiding the law, catching horses and living the life of a western ne'er-do-well. Life is tough for Arthur Morgan, but for him and the rest of the Van der Linde gang, never boring.
PC players can expect some impressive graphical improvements over the already breathtaking visuals on consoles. The PC version features an increased draw distance, improved lighting via higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion effects, improved reflections, higher resolution shadows, tessellated tree textures, and improved grass and fur textures. Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC also features 4K HDR and support for multi-monitor and widescreen set-ups.
In order to play the game, PC gamers will need to install the Rockstar Launcher on their machines. If they already have other Rockstar games such as Grand Theft Auto Vin their Steam library, chances are this program is already installed. They will also need sign up for a Rockstar account, if they've not already done so, to which they can also link their Steam, Xbox and PlayStation, to track stats etc. across platforms.
PC gamers also get some exclusive new content and items. The new PC version of Red Read Redemption 2 features three new bounty hunter missions, two new gang hideouts and a new mission: To the Ends of The Earth. The PC games also includes two new treasure maps, five new story mode weapons, new story mode horses and new trinkets.
As well as a riveting, huge single-player story mode, the game also includes free access to the immersive multiplayer world of Red Dead Online. This online component features all the improvements and content previously released on console including Frontier Pursuits and the specialist roles of Bounty Hunter, Trader and Collector.
PC gamers can still pre-purchase Red Dead Redemption 2, but today is the last day. Players that do so will receive some exclusive bonuses including the War Horse, an outlaw survival kit, a treasure map, cash for story mode and 50 gold bars for Red Dead Online.
Players that pre-purchase the game from the Rockstar Game Launcher or the Rockstar Warehouse today can also choose a free Rockstar game. Players can select a game from the following: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Bully: Scholarship Edition, L.A. Noire: The Complete Editionand Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition (I'd recommend Max Payne 3).
Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC can be downloaded right now, via the Rockstar launcher, in preparation for the 5th November release.
