FYI, this story is more than a year old

Head on over to the iTunes App Store from today and you'll be greeted with the latest version of Skype for iPhone. The biggest addition to the new version is the ability to make Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G. It's a much-requested feature, but you’ll have to pay for it at the end of 2010.

“Call using your 3G connection,” says the app information. “Skype-to-Skype calls on 3G are free until the end of 2010, after which there will be a small monthly fee (operator charges for data will still apply).”

Other updates to the app include “near CD-quality sound” for Skype-to-Skype calls using wideband audio (SILK codec) on iPhone 3GS, iPad and 2nd and 3rd generation iPod touch, enhanced call quality indicator, improved start-up time and faster access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen.

Is the ability to call Skype-to-Skype via 3G a function you'd gladly pay for?
