Teenager arrested in hacking case

Wed, 22nd Jun 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

British police have arrested a 19-year-old thought to be connected with the Lulz hacking network responsible for recent high-profile attacks on organisations such as Sony and the CIA.

Police have refused to confirm a link to the Lulz network, saying only that the arrest resulted from an investigation into network intrusions and distributed denial-of-service attacks against "a number of international businesses and intelligence agencies by what is believed to be the same hacking group.

However, the Lulz group has responded dismissively, tweeting, "Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it's all over now... wait... we're all still here!

The arrest may have little impact on the group's activities, as it is unlikely any one person has a significant influence over the group.
