Telltale officially developing The Walking Dead games

Telltale Games has announced an exclusive publishing agreement to publish a series of video games based on the recent hit TV show The Walking Dead.

The "series of games" part is important. It's understood that the games will take on an episodic nature and, perhaps more importantly, they will not be sold at retail. This strategy is in direct response to NPD Group findings that PC game digital download sales outpaced retail for the first time last year. Telltale's approach is, reportedly, to split a project into five episodes and charge users US$35 for a "season pass", with a new episode available for download every four weeks.

No further details are known at this point in time, but we'll be sure to keep an eye on this one as it unfolds.
