The force is strong with the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Xbox One 2TB Game Drive

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Just in time for the new Star Wars Game from EA, Seagate have released their Star Wars Jedi Fallen OrderXbox One Game Drive.

The cynic in me believes that no storage solution says, "I'm probably paying too much for this" than a Star Wars Jedi Fallen OrderXbox One Game Drive. And that's probably true. If you are a Star Wars fan, however, Seagate's Jedi Fallen Order Game Drive is the extra storage that you've been looking for.

The packaging, apart from the Star Wars branding, told me nothing more than it's a 2TB hard drive. There's no suggestion that it's a super-fast solid-state drive (which it isn't), or that it has any special qualities other than a fancy case.

The external drive case houses a 7200rpm 6GB/s SATA drive. Whilst the USB 3.1 cable is a very fancy braided cable, I found the drive performance to be about on par with that of the internal Xbox One drive and nowhere near as fast as some of the SSD drives that I've been using with an Xbox One.

But it looks nice. And is certainly, if you are into that sort of thing, a bit of a collectable.

The black case features the helmeted image of an Imperial Purge Trooper. In the Star Wars universe, these specialists, the last of the Jango Fett clones, were tasked with hunting down the remnants of the Jedi in accordance with Emperor Palpatine's Order 66. We'll likely see some of these in the Jedi Fallen Order game.

EA's Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order takes place between the end of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The game follows Jedi padawan, Cal Kestis, who has managed to evade Vader's purge of the Jedi order. The game promises to be a mix of Uncharted-style climb and jump, with lightsaber combat apparently similar to Dark Soul sword-play.

Chances are, like all of us, you are running out of space on your console. Whilst Master Yoda tells us size does not matter, when it comes to hard drive capacity, size certainly does matter. The 2TB Jedi Fallen Order Game Drive should be a very welcome addition to any Xbox One gamer's set-up.

With Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order's arrival imminent, it's time to make sure that you've the available drive capacity to fit the game's massive 43GB file size. Nobody wants to have a bad feeling, getting an out of space warning and having to delete Battlefront II in order to fit Jedi Fallen Order on your Xbox One.

The Game Drive packaging says that you just plug the drive into your Xbox One and away you go. And that's true, from a certain point-of-view.

As it's a USB drive, installation is really easy. You just plug it in one of your Xbox's spare USB sockets and off you go. I really thought, though, what with it being an Xbox One Game Drive, it would be pre-formatted, and maybe it is. But that didn't stop my Xbox One from wanting to format the drive before use, anyway.

Remember that the Xbox One will not be able to use more than three external drives (even with a USB hub). If you've already got the max, it may be worthwhile swapping some of your games to the new 2TB Game Drive and decommissioning one of your older smaller drives.

The Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Xbox One 2TB Game Drive may not be as exciting as bulls-eyeing wamp rats in your T-16, and may not be the fastest drive out there, but when it comes to looks and storage capacity, it's got it where it counts, kid.
