Arlo unveils Wired Floodlight Camera with 2K video & AI

Today

Arlo Technologies has introduced the Wired Floodlight Camera, a security camera designed to enhance the visibility and protection of outdoor spaces.

The device, which builds upon Arlo's existing wire-free floodlight technology, is powered continuously by a direct power source. Available in black exclusively at Bunnings stores nationwide, the camera can also be purchased online. From 11 November, the white variant will be available online, while in-store availability is expected in January 2025. Both models are priced at a recommended retail price of USD $249.

One of the distinguishing features of the Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera is its 2K resolution video capture, providing clear detail in various lighting conditions. It also emits up to 2000 lumens of light, which can be adjusted to illuminate desired areas. This functionality is supported by articulating lights and an adjustable camera, allowing users to customise coverage to suit their specific outdoor environment. Arlo Secure App enhances camera functionality by enabling custom lighting schedules based on timing or detected activity.

Additional features of the camera include a 160-degree field of view, ensuring comprehensive coverage. The camera is equipped with night vision technology for detailed footage in low light conditions, and noise-cancelling audio allows for communication with visitors via two-way audio. To deter potential intruders, there is an option to trigger an integrated siren either automatically or manually.

Smart alerts are a key component of the Wired Floodlight Camera, with instant notifications for motion and sound detection. A unique feature, Arlo Foresight, allows users to view four seconds of video prior to motion-triggered recordings. This device is resilient to various weather conditions, capable of operating in heat, cold, rain, or sun. Users can easily connect the camera directly to existing electrical wiring, ensuring uninterrupted power supply and connectivity to Wi-Fi for easy setup and quick video loading.

The Wired Floodlight Camera integrates seamlessly with popular smart home platforms such as Amazon Alexa, IFTTT, and Google Home, allowing for streamlined interaction and automation within a smart home ecosystem.

Combining the camera with an Arlo Secure subscription plan offers further enhancements. Advanced computer vision AI and recognition engines provide detailed and meaningful alerts, assisting users in making more informed security decisions. The plans include 30-day cloud storage and event viewing, options to personalise security through customised alerts, and the ability to detect advanced objects such as packages, animals, people, and vehicles.

Users are also able to train the Arlo AI to recognise specific objects or changes in view to trigger customised notifications. Meaningful notifications allow immediate action from the lock screen without opening the app. Moreover, the Arlo Secure Plus subscription provides added capabilities in object detection.
