There's no app for freedom of expression
Last week Apple pulled down an iPhone app created by Exodus International that promoted "curing" gay people.
The app was removed after 146,000 people signed a petition on Change.org that called on Apple to remove the app from iTunes.
In response, Alan Chambers, the president of Exodus International, has asked where the app is that promotes freedom of expression and respect for diversity.
"After a calculated smear campaign designed by gay activists to emotionally incite the general public, Apple made a decision to remove the Exodus International app from the iTunes store. Apple's reasoning was that it 'offended a large group of people'. Interesting.
He continued, "Here is my point. It is becoming apparently clear that there is no room in this culture for diversity of thought or opinion. It goes beyond Apple having the right to discriminate. It is the fact that simply offering someone support as THEY CHOOSE to live their life through the filter of their faith rather than their sexuality is now considered not only offensive, but also dangerous.
"People with biblical convictions are now being labelled bigoted and homophobic for simply upholding someone's right to self-determine how they want to live their lives. It's astounding.
Apple said, "We removed the Exodus International app from the App Store because it violates our developer guidelines by being offensive to large groups of people.
