FYI, this story is more than a year old

Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2 will arrive in New Zealand on October 11, and will be playable on the DS family including the 3DS and 3DS XL.

The new game’s will again take place in the Unova region, two years after the events of the original Black and White versions.

Creatures from outside the Unova region will be available to catch from the beginning of the game, including first and second-generation Pokemon Eevee, Arcanine and Tyranitar.

A World Tournament mode will also debut, introducing a battle arena where players can challenge gym leaders and Pokemon league trainers from previous Pokemon games, including Lance from the Johto region.

Another interesting addition is the Pokemon Dream Radar, a game from the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS that lets players capture rare Pokemon and transfer them into Black and White Version 2.

Dream Radar will utilise the 3DS camera, motion control and augmented-reality technology to discover and catch Pokemon with special abilities which can then be used in the main game.

And if you really want to be a master (I couldn’t not say it) the Pokedex 3D Pro app for the 3DS is launching later this year and will include information on more than 640 Pokemon.

From someone who isn’t a handheld gamer, I’ve so far been quite impressed by what I’ve seen for the 3DS, so this could well be a wise investment for a die-hard Pokemon fan.
