Twitter sends 20 billionth tweet

Mon, 2nd Aug 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

GGGGGGo_Lets_Go’ is a Tokyo-based graphic designer for an advertising agency and over the weekend he sent out Twitter’s 20 billionth tweet.

The tweet itself wasn’t anything exciting as it simply read, “So that means the barrage might come back later all at once."

Once the landmark tweet was posted GGGGGGo_Lets_Go then started to receive congratulatory tweets from other users around the world.

“Looks like I posted the 20 billionth tweet. I'm getting replies from people all over the world. It's scary. What are the chances? Maybe I'm going to die,” he tweeted.

The service took four years to reach its 10 billionth tweet (March 2010) but notching up the 20 billionth tweet took just five months.
