Twitter takeover talks didn't go anywhere

Fri, 11th Feb 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

According to a report on the Wall Street Journal, both Google and Facebook have held low-level talks with Twitter.

“Executives at both Facebook Inc. and Google Inc., among other companies, have held low-level talks with those at Twitter Inc. in recent months to explore the prospect of an acquisition of the messaging service, according to people familiar with the matter.

“The talks have so far gone nowhere, these people say,” the publication reports.

WSJ reports that the price tag involved in the discussions was in the region of US$8 billion to US$10 billion.

Would you welcome a buyout of Twitter by either Facebook or Google?
