UPDATE (Friday, October 16): A spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand has informed Game Console that the launch of EyePet: Your Virtual Pet will go ahead as originally planned in New Zealand. The game will release locally on November 17th.nSony confirms rumoured release-date change for its upcoming EyePet title.

Responding to queries from the newshounds at IGN, Sony has confirmed that its upcoming title EyePet: Your Virtual Pet will not release on the intended launch date of November 17th.

Instead, the title has been pushed back to April 2010.In a written statement to IGN, Sony claims that the team at Sony Computer Entertainment of America needs to spend more time on the product.

“EyePet is an innovative and exciting new IP to the PS3 platform and SCEA marketing will spend additional time to continue educating consumers and retail channels, setting the table for a successful product launch. We will provide more details on an updated launch timeframe very soon,” wrote a spokesperson for Sony.
