Users still unhappy with Skype Mac

Tue, 1st Feb 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The latest version of Skype 5 for Mac has come out of beta but there still seems to be some serious issues the developers have overlooked.

Skype says that the new version comes with an improved user interface and group video calling (as part of the Premium package).

But a quick search of the Twitter universe reveals post after post of unhappy users, begging Skype to get its act together.

The biggest outcry revolves around the application blocking Flash and other programs from using your webcam. This is said to happen even when it's not running.

According to Download Squad Skype has known about the issue since November but says it's a feature, not a bug. But there never been any explanation about the feature which blocks your webcam being used by other programs.
