Will Apple introduce a new-look iOS 7 design?
As internet speculation grows, Apple's iOS 7 design is expected to have a completely new look - coming in "black, white and flat all over."
As reported primarily in 9to5 Mac, the man tasked with the job, Jonathan Ive, has been focused on the look and feel of the device software rather than new features.
In a bid to compete with Android and Windows, iOS is set for a dramatic overhaul, in what CNET describes as an "out with the old and in with the new" approach.
But it is 9to5 Mac where the source originates, with the website claiming "Apple has re-architected iOS 7's new interface several times."
"So until the new software is announced at WWDC, interface elements could dramatically change from what Apple has been testing internally in recent week," the article wrote.
9to5 Mac claim that Ive stated that "software designs filled with physical metaphors do not stand the test of time", and because the iOS's current applications have a range of different designs, "Apple's users could become confused."
Set to be unveiled at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference in June, the new iOS platform looks set to be simpler and more in-keeping with the original iconic designs within Apple.
Most media sources believe the software will lose "all signs" of skeuomorphism, but at the same time will not be any harder to use.
With a new interface in the pipeline, 9to5 Mac also believes the new lock screen will be changed, the notifications pane will become a simplistic black and white design and the Home Screen will remain relatively untouched.
