The first official acknowledgement of the existence of the Xperia Play (against a series of leaks) has just taken place: the previously leaked television advertisement, as reported last week, has just aired on American television during Super Bowl 43.

The Sony Ericsson Facebook page now hosts an advertisement for an "official announcement" event taking place right "right here on Facebook" on Feb 13th 2011 at 6pm GMT (that's 6am on February 14th for us Kiwi folk). Simply "Like" the Sony Ericsson Facebook page and you can catch the announcement and subsequent features dump live. It'll be interesting to see if they're able to tell us much we don't already know thanks to Engadget!
