Acer unveils new AI-powered Swift Go 14 & Swift 14 laptops
Acer has unveiled two new additions to its Copilot+ PC lineup, the Swift Go 14 AI and Swift 14 AI laptops. These devices aim to offer improved performance and efficiency, leveraging the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The Swift Go 14 AI is equipped with the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core processor, a platform designed for high performance and energy efficiency. Acer claims the laptop can achieve up to 28 hours of video playback, partly due to its potent Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, offering up to 45 TOPS (Trillions of Operations per Second) of AI capabilities. The model includes up to 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and up to 1 TB NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD, ensuring ample storage and smooth multitasking.
Acer's James Lin, General Manager of Notebooks, expressed excitement about these new products: "The new Swift laptops are powered by some of the most powerful AI processors available today, and we are excited to bring the latest advancements and PC experiences to the hands of more people."
In terms of visuals, the Swift Go 14 AI offers up to a 14.5-inch WQXGA (2560x1600) IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, improved by support for a 100% sRGB colour gamut. Acer has also focused on eye care, with the display qualifying for the RPF 50 rating, indicating a 50% reduction in blue light. Sound quality is enhanced by dual speakers with DTS:X Ultra audio technology, and a 1440p QHD IR camera ensures clear video communication.
The Swift Go 14 AI also features practical design elements such as an AI icon on the top cover and an AI Activity Indicator on the touchpad, which illuminates when the NPU or Copilot is active. Connectivity options include two USB 4.0 Type-C ports, two USB Type-A ports, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Swift 14 AI, on the other hand, is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, integrating the AMD XDNA 2 architecture. It offers up to 50 TOPS of AI processing power. This model includes up to 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and up to 2 TB NVMe PCIe Gen 4 storage.
In terms of display, the Swift 14 AI offers up to a 14-inch OLED WQXGA (2880x1800) panel with VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certification, providing peak brightness of 500 nits. The alternative option is a WQXGA IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, which can also be touchscreen-enabled. Sound is catered for by dual speakers enhanced with DTS:X Ultra technology, and the laptop includes a 1440p QHD IR HDR camera with a privacy shutter.
This high-end model is designed for mobility and has a premium, ultra-thin chassis weighing 1.32 kg. It features a dedicated Copilot key on the backlit keyboard and various useful ports, including two USB Type-C ports, two USB Type-A 3.2 ports, and HDMI 2.1.
The Swift 14 AI will receive free updates to Copilot+ PC experiences later this year. Acer's Copilot+ PCs also come with several AI enhancements, such as Cocreator, which generates images from descriptions in nearly real-time, and Live Captions, which can translate spoken words from 44 languages into English captions.
