Apple on track to launch iPad 3 in March
Although the device has undoubtedly been a success, part of the hype leading up to the release of the iPhone 4S was the fact it was about three months late, going by Apple’s previous release schedule.
Now, attention is turning to the iPad, which going by previous releases is due for a refresh in the next few months.
According to a report from Taipei-based DigiTimes, which is connected with OEM contractors in the region, the next-generation iPad is on schedule, and consumers can expect it on shelves in three to four months.
Citing sources in the supply chain, the website says deliveries of parts and components for the new tablets have begun, and production of the iPad 2 is scheduled to wind down in the New Year to make way for its successor.
Of course, the question is whether Apple wants to release it on time – the success of the iPhone 4S shows what a little anticipation can bring.
