DPA Microphones launches new 2061 miniature lavalier model

Mon, 16th Sep 2024

DPA Microphones has introduced its new 2061 Miniature Omnidirectional Microphone, aimed at professionals in various audio capture fields such as broadcast studios, theatres, event venues, and houses of worship.

The new lavalier microphone seeks to provide high-quality, straightforward sound capture solutions for both live and recording applications.

Helga Volha Somava, product management director at DPA Microphones, noted the key attributes of the new product. "We launched the 2061 to appeal to audio professionals who are not yet part of the DPA family and are looking to upgrade their audio quality with a crystal-clear, no-frills microphone. With its durable and rugged enclosure and premier DPA sound, the 2061 does not compromise on excellence. This is a great miniature microphone that is a worthy competitor to other well-known and widely used models," she stated.

The 2061 lavalier incorporates several design principles from other DPA microphones but boasts a new 5mm capsule construction designed for superior performance in the 8 Hz – 16 kHz frequency range with a 128 dB peak sound pressure level (SPL). As with its predecessors, the microphone reportedly offers high speech intelligibility, clear and natural sound, and robust mechanical construction.

Featuring an omnidirectional pickup pattern, the prepolarised condenser microphone aims to deliver accurate human voice capture with minimal coloration. The flat frequency curve with a soft 3dB boost ensures that it is not pre-tailored for any specific position, allowing sound engineers the flexibility to capture authentic sound from various arrangements.

The 2061 also underscores DPA's commitment to durability and reliability. The microphone includes a 1.5 meter-long Kevlar reinforced cable with long and flexible strain relief, designed to withstand physical stress. Its advanced sweat-repelling capabilities and IP57 certification make it resistant to dust, water, and makeup. The IP57 rating means that the device can resist dust ingress and survive temporary water immersion without any negative effects on functionality.

This new product also has fixed cap and permanent connector options compatible with 3-pin LEMO, TA4F, and Mini-Jack, which facilitates easier use, particularly in dynamic environments that demand quick and efficient setups. Available in multiple colours — black, white, beige, and brown — the microphone can blend seamlessly into various settings, whether attached to an actor, a presenter, or different attires and costumes. The lavalier also integrates with the SCM0035 Lavalier Microphone Clip, which offers cable management, 360-degree mic rotation, and a non-slip surface.

The 2061 can also be paired with various accessories, such as the AIR1 Universal Miniature Fur Windscreen for outdoor use, as well as the SCM0030 and SCM0034 clips and DUA056 series of foam windscreens.

Additionally, DPA has introduced new environmentally conscious packaging for the 2061, featuring a reusable, resealable pouch designed for reduced shipment weight and volume, presenting a practical and eco-friendly solution for users. The microphone comes with a two-year limited warranty.
