Kim Dotcom hints at Megaupload relaunch

Wed, 22nd Aug 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Kim Dotcom has hinted at the possible relaunch of his file-sharing website Megaupload, over six months since its closure on piracy breaches.

Dotcom used Twitter to fuel the speculation, with a stream of media reports offering their interpretations to the social media posting.

“I know what you are all waiting for. It’s coming. This year,” says Dotcom on Twitter.

“Promise. Bigger. Better. Faster. 100% Safe & Unstoppable.”

While a relaunch of the controversial website is the most popular guess among the press, Macworld website speculated ‘Dotcom's tweet may refer to Megaupload users' outrage at losing access to personal files when the site and a number of affiliated services, including Megavideo, were seized by New Zealand and American authorities.’

A further tweet by Dotcom, ‘Yes... Megabox is also coming this ;-)”, led The Next Web to believe the reference was in relation to the new music service designed for artists to sell directly to users.

But while the speculation prolongs, Dotcom continues to fight extradition to the U.S. to face piracy accusations.
