Major outage strikes Orcon
Tue, 5th Oct 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

After Orcon suffered what it called a major outage in the early hours of this morning, another outage has just struck its network.

According to an update from the company about this morning's issues, “Orcon experienced a major outage due to a power issue with a third-party vendor.”

The outage started at 00:05am and was resolved by 02:30am, the firm said added that the matter had now been resolved.

A spokesperson for Orcon told us that its engineers are looking into the source of the problem and an update should be expected soon.

Update: Orcon has posted a notice on its website: "We are currently experiencing connectivity issues. Our engineers are currently working to resolve this as quickly as possible, we apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time."

Orcon’s Helpdesk and some collocated servers were affected. "Please note that our phones are in emergency mode, for those who have collocated servers please contact your account managers."

Update 2: Orcon said at 1:30pm that essential services have now been restored and a more detailed update will follow later in the day.

Update 3: A problem with Vector's Communications Network was the reason behind Orcon's original outage yesterday.
