Microsoft set for Windows Phone 8.1 June release...
Microsoft will release its Windows Phone 8.1 device on June 24, coinciding with the launch of Nokia’s Lumia 930.
Media reports are rife that Redmond will pull the trigger on its flagship smartphone device in just over a month, following Microsoft’s recent update on its support lifecycle page.
Dated June 24, the updated information says; “Microsoft will make updates available for the Operating System, including security updates, for a minimum of 36 months after the lifecycle start date.
“These updates will be incremental, with each update built on the update that preceded it.”
Advising that customers need to install each update in order to remain supported, the tech giant also adds that distribution of the updates may be controlled by the mobile operator or the phone manufacturer from which you purchased your phone, and installation will require that your phone have any prior updates.
“Update availability will also vary by country, region, and hardware capabilities,” the company adds.
Windows Phone 8.1 is set to offer the introduction of a notifications bar and Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant, among many other new features.
