FYI, this story is more than a year old

Symantec has released a public beta of Norton 360 version 5.0, the latest version of its all-in-one security suite.

Supported programs include Internet Explorer, Firefox, AOL, Chrome, Safari, Opera, QQ, MSN Messenger, MSN Explorer, Yahoo (IM), MSN, Outlook, Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Limewire, BitTorrent and FileZilla.

Aside from the usual security options, the beta includes identity protection, automatic backup and PC tuneup features.

Jens Meggers, VP of Engineering, Norton products, said, “A recent study conducted by Norton shows that 62% of adults worldwide don’t use strong passwords and 69% don’t regularly backup, which are important steps to take to stay secure online. Norton 360 makes it easy for consumers to take these actions, plus more, to ensure their files, photos, and important documents are protected.” The beta is available as a free public download now.
