Price increases for Telecom landlines

Mon, 2nd May 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Telecom landline customers are facing price increases on basic rentals starting in June.

Those customers with a Grandfather plan –  an old plan a customer can continue paying for if already enrolled, but is no longer offered to new customers – or a Homeline plan will see a 4 percent price increase of  about $1.70 a month on bills from June 1, 2011.

Telecom says the increases apply to older plans to bring them in line with current value and anticipates the price increase will affect one-third of its landline rental customers.

The cost of reconnections will also rise by 4 percent, and site visits by 8 percent.

National toll call rates also face change.

National calls will be priced on a flat rate of 31c a minute anytime, rather than its current pricing structure of 45c on weekdays and 25c on offpeak nights and weekends.
