FYI, this story is more than a year old

Yesterday Rupert Murdoch launched his digital newspaper to the US iTunes store.

Today a website has launched pulling all the content together and presenting it in a user-friendly form.

Every article that appears in The Daily is also available via search engines (and then easily sharable on Twitter and Facebook). But without a homepage to link them altogether, you’d never find them all.

Meet 'The Daily: Indexed’.

“Anybody else think it's weird that The Daily, News Corp's new iPad-only magazine, posts almost every article to their official website... but with no index of the articles to be found? They spent $30M on it, but apparently forgot a homepage,” LA-based programmer and journalist, Andy Baio, says, who has joined all the dots together.

“The Daily's publishing free, web-based versions to every article, but without an index, it's very inconvenient to find or link to individual articles from the web. And since the iPad app appears to only carry today's edition, it makes finding any historical articles you've paid for nearly impossible,” he continued in a post explaining his motivation.

Baio says he’s curious about the legal implications but believes that linking to public news articles is unquestionably legal and should never be discouraged. “It's also worth noting that Google's slowly indexing all the articles too, and search engines aren't blocked in their robots.txt file,” he said.

Baio says that if lawyers ask him to stop publishing the site and delete it, he will.

Better get in quick then.
