Samsung has revealed the Galaxy S4 mini, set to be a compact version of the company's bestselling smartphone.

Yet after breaking the news, Samsung New Zealand says at present, there is no sign of Kiwi price or availability.

Following strong demand for the Galaxy S4, the South Korean electronics giant will be hoping for similar success for the smaller product according to Samsung's CEO and president of IT and Mobile Communication Division JK Shin.

"With a similar look and feel, the Galaxy S4 mini will meet the needs of the modern consumer," he said.

Shin says the product embodies a wide range of features and services from the smartphone including:

Capture Important Moments

The Galaxy S4 mini allows users to capture important moments with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.9-megapixel HD front-facing camera.

It features Sound&Shot, which stores audio and voice as a picture is taken. Panorama Shot allows users to take full panoramic shots.

Share and Connect

The device enables users to share and connect. Users can simultaneously listen to the same music as their friends using Group Play, while allowing you to chat with multiple friends and send video and voice recordings using ChatON.

Make Life Simple and Easy

The Galaxy S4 mini makes travel easy with S Translator, which provides instant text or voice translation of an email or text message. Samsung Link also enables users to share content across multiple Samsung digital devices.*available in select countries

Samsung says the product will be available in two colours, White Frost and Black Mist with availability of the device supporting either 4G LTE, or 3G HSPA, will be determined by the market.
