2degrees creates 80 Christchurch jobs
Tue, 1st Feb 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

2degrees will create 80 new jobs in Christchurch by opening a new contact centre in the CBD later this year.

Chief Executive Eric Hertz said that the firm needed the extra contact centre to cope with business growth.

2degrees currently provides 24/7 customer care from its Auckland office.

“We’ve chosen Christchurch because it’s recognised as a centre of excellence for contact centre talent. We expect to create about 80 new jobs by the end of this year,” said Hertz.

“This is a conscious decision to deliver customer service here in New Zealand. We believe Kiwis value speaking to a local person when they call for help."

The reasoning behind announcing the contact centre months ahead of its opening is because the firm wants to hear from people interested in “working for a fast growing mobile operator that takes extraordinary customer service seriously”.

The contact centre will open by midyear and will be located in the Christchurch Central Business District.
