Alienware unveils dual-mode 27-inch 4K gaming monitor
Alienware has announced the introduction of its new 27-inch 4K Dual-Resolution Gaming Monitor (AW2725QF), aimed at addressing the common challenge faced by gamers in choosing between high refresh rates and high resolution. The monitor offers two distinct modes, providing flexibility and an enhanced gaming experience for different genres.
The AW2725QF features a '4K @ 180Hz' mode that offers a native 4K (3840x2160) resolution at a refresh rate of 180Hz, making it suitable for visually intensive games like role-playing and adventure genres. For competitive and fast-paced gaming, the monitor can switch to 'FHD @ 360Hz' mode, which provides a full HD (1920x1080) resolution at an impressive 360Hz refresh rate.
Alienware's dual-resolution technology merges four pixels into one when shifting from 4K to FHD mode, thereby allowing the refresh rate to double to 360Hz. This creates an adaptable platform that gives gamers the option to prioritise either higher resolution or higher refresh rate depending on their gaming needs.
The AW2725QF also boasts rich colour and contrast capabilities, featuring 95% DCI-P3 colour space and Delta E<2 colour accuracy. This makes it not only a gaming monitor but also a viable option for colour-sensitive creative work in its Creator Mode. Additionally, it includes Dolby Vision and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, ensuring high dynamic range (HDR) performance with more vivid brights and deeper blacks. Hardware-based TUV-certified ComfortView Plus is incorporated, enabling gamers to play longer sessions with reduced eye strain without compromising on colour performance.
Further enhancing the fluidity of action within gameplay, the AW2725QF is equipped with NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and VESA AdaptiveSync certifications, which contribute to tear-free and stutter-free visuals. A grey-to-grey response time of 0.5ms minimises ghosting and blurring, offering a sharper and cleaner visual experience during high-speed action sequences.
The monitor also supports console compatibility via high-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 FRL, allowing gameplay up to 4K at 120Hz on compatible consoles, and up to 4K at 180Hz on PCs. It also offers variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode for an improved responsive experience. Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) compatibility allows seamless connection to high-resolution audio systems, including Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers and soundbars, further immersing players in their gaming environment.
The Alienware 27 4K Dual-Resolution Gaming Monitor (AW2725QF) is set to be available worldwide on 12 September 2024. It aims to cater to the diverse needs of gamers, providing a solution that does not force a compromise between visual fidelity and gaming speed. This innovation positions Alienware to potentially capture the interest of both competitive gamers and those who prefer immersive, story-driven experiences.
