In tribute to Apple board member Jerome [Jerry] York, Apple's US website has been dedicated solely to his memory.

York died after suffering a brain hemorrhage at his Michigan home.

York joined Apple’s board of directors in 1997, after serving as the CFO of IBM and Chrysler. He was well known for helping IBM and Chrysler make significant financial turnarounds.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement, “Jerry joined Apple’s board when most doubted the company’s future. He has been a pillar of financial and business expertise and insight on our board for over a dozen years.”

Jobs added: “It’s been a privilege to know and work with Jerry, and I’m going to miss him a lot.”

York was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1938 and graduated from the US Military Academy before training as an engineer at MIT and receiving an MBA from the University of Michigan.
