FYI, this story is more than a year old

Apple has this morning revealed that the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be available in New Zealand on Friday October 25.

The double launch, set for another 25 countries also, finally brings Cupertino's eagerly anticipated new smartphone line into Kiwi hands.

Billed as "the most forward-thinking iPhone yet" by the tech giants, the new iPhone 5S comes in three different colours, silver, gold and space gray, with further new features including a fingerprint sensor and an all-new A7 chip.

Costing a recommended retail price of NZD$1,049 for the 16GB model, the 32GB model and 64GB model will command NZD$1,199 and NZD$1,349 respectively.

The iPhone 5C however, labelled as "the most colourful iPhone yet" will be available in blue, green, pink, yellow and white, for a recommended retail price of NZD$899 for the 16GB model and NZD$1,049 for the 32GB model.

Both models come with iOS 7, the most significant iOS update since the original iPhone, with over 200 million iOS devices already running the new operating system, making it the fastest software upgrade in history.

Just three days after the launch of Apple's new product line on September 20, the company sold a record-breaking nine million new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c models.

Speaking at the time of the launch, CEO Tim Cook claimed demand for iPhone 5S in particular has exceeded the initial supply, and that many online orders are scheduled to be shipped in the coming weeks.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales,” Cook said last month.

“The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”

Both new smartphones will be available through the Apple Online Store and select Apple Authorised Resellers across the country, with the iPhone 4S now available for a recommended retail price of NZD$649.

Less than 24 hours after the iPhone 5S went on sale in America however, Apple had sold out its entire September stock, leading to on street fighting in California - let's hope Kiwis can avoid such anarchy on launch day.

Will you be in line for the new iPhone 5S or 5C?
