The Co-Operative Bank app reaches 1,000,000 login milestone

FYI, this story is more than a year old

The Co-operative Bank's new mobile banking app is by tomorrow expected to reach one million logins by customers after its launch in July this year.

More than 12,000 customers have downloaded the app in the five months since it launched. When it was initially launched, customers could use the app to do their personal banking from Apple and Android smartphones, and has now released an update which allows its New Zealand customers to join the bank online.

“It's easier to join us than ever before,” says Bruce McLachlan, Co-operative Bank chief executive. “It takes less than 10 minutes and you can sign up from the comfort of your home.”

With 34 branches, 135,000 customers and ambitious growth targets over the next five years, the launch of a mobile banking app was a vital move for The Co-operative Bank.

“It's no secret that we want to double our customer numbers in the next five years, and having cutting edge online channels is essential to that growth,” McLachlan says.

“And it's not just about getting new customers. The app is giving our existing customers more choice in the way they bank with us, and it's clear they're happy to have the option.”

McLachlan says the bank was also working on upgrading its website and internet banking over the next few months.

The success of the bank's mobile app rounds off a great year for The Co-operative Bank, which has seen strong growth over the year.
