Digg founder calls out iPad 2 announcement
In a blog post, the founder of content sharing site Digg.com, Kevin Rose, said that he has it on good authority that Apple will announce a release date for the long-rumoured iPad 2 in the next few weeks.
"I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next ‘3-4 weeks’, possibly Tuesday February 1st,” he wrote.
Rumours about the next iPad have been swirling around the internet for months now, with many suggesting obvious upgrades that the iPad 2 will feature such as a better display and front/back-facing cameras.
Rose updated his original post to include, "Spoke w/another source, the display has a ‘higher dpi, but not technically a retina display. This seems odd to me, we'll have to wait and see.”
There’s also a fair bit of internet chatter about Verizon, who just announced its iPhone 4 in the US, getting in on the iPad 2 at some point over the next few months.
"If you're thinking of buying an iPad, hold off for now,” Rose concluded.
While we wait, here’s a video titled "iPad 2 Video snuck out of CES 2011”. Make your own minds up...
