iTunes to integrate with Facebook connect

Sun, 11th Apr 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Allowing users to share purchases with friends, iTunes will soon integrate with Facebook Connect.

According to TechCrunch, though nothing has been announced officially, Facebook has been adding more iTunes features to the software’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/itunes), which now includes polls and featured items and is being promoted within iTunes.

Users can already share songs from iTunes on both Facebook and Twitter using a feature that was introduced last year, but with the new integration, Apple could be looking to step up its social networking capabilities and create new features by leveraging Facebook’s social networking power.

Facebook has worked with Apple in the past with other apps, such as the integrated iPhoto uploader for Facebook photos.

In December Apple acquired Lala, which has a background working with Facebook Connect, in part because it powers Connect's song gifting feature.
