LG introduces 32-inch 4K smart monitor Swing in Australia

Wed, 28th May 2025

LG Electronics has announced the arrival of its new 32-inch 4K smart monitor, the LG Smart Monitor Swing (model 32U889SA), in Australia from July 2025.

The LG Smart Monitor Swing is described as the most versatile smart monitor in the company's lineup to date, equipped with a rolling stand for flexible positioning, touchscreen capabilities, and an integrated webOS platform for standalone operation without the need for a PC.

The monitor features upgraded input options beyond previous models, an auto pivot function, smart brightness control, built-in speakers, and supports a variety of use cases including entertainment, productivity, and creative pursuits.

Ergonomic adaptability is central to the design of the Smart Monitor Swing, with the rolling stand allowing users to adjust the monitor to touch-friendly angles or different work environments. LG highlights that the stand's flexibility suits various preferences, whether used for watching films from bed, creating a productive desk space, or supporting creative activities such as digital art or music practice by positioning the screen at the preferred height and orientation.

The 32U889SA delivers a 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) IPS display, which is aimed at providing clarity, vibrant colours, and high contrast across a wide 32-inch screen. The company emphasises the monitor's suitability for multitasking, stating that the large screen area and sharp image quality are intended for work-intensive applications as well as entertainment purposes.

Powered by the LG webOS smart TV platform, the device supports both productivity and entertainment apps, facilitating easy switching between cloud-based office tools and remote PC access, without direct PC connection requirements. This integration is designed to allow users to complete various tasks and consume media directly from the monitor.

This is the first model in the Smart Monitor series to feature complete touchscreen functionality, allowing for more intuitive navigation and content management. It contains built-in speakers and supports a selection of connectivity options, including USB Type-C with 65W power delivery and HDMI ports, which is intended to provide compatibility with a range of input devices.

The Auto Pivot function on the LG Smart Monitor Swing automatically sets the screen's orientation based on the content, especially improving the experience with webOS applications tailored to short-form video or vertical content without the need for manual adjustments.

When the monitor is connected to a PC, users can employ the LG Switch App to control the Auto Pivot feature within the PC environment. The app also supports screen splitting with preset layouts, customisation of monitor settings, and centralised input device management using a keyboard and mouse. These tools facilitate seamless transitions between PC and Smart TV functionalities and enable efficient blending of uses in single- or multi-device office settings.

The Brightness Control feature further enhances viewing by automatically adjusting the display's backlight in response to ambient lighting conditions, contributing to both work and leisure activities by maintaining consistent screen visibility without manual intervention.

YS Lee, Head of IT Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, commented: "The new LG Smart Monitor Swing redefines versatility in the personal display category, offering users a one-stop screen solution for all their productivity and entertainment needs. LG remains committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation, delivering smart monitors that not only adapt to users' lifestyles and interests but also support their creative pursuits."

The LG Smart Monitor Swing was recognised with a CES 2025 Innovation Award. Availability in Australia is planned via LG's national website, following a June 2025 pre-registration and pre-sale period, and will continue while stocks last.
