FYI, this story is more than a year old

After just nine months in the market, online real estate agency 200 Square has sold $13 million in property, the company has announced - enough to make the company’s ‘fearless leader’ believe he has ‘perfected the recipe’ for a new kind of Real Estate agent.

Grant Wakelin, a veteran of both the New Zealand Real Estate industry and the Silicon Valley technology sector, says the custom-developed 200 Square platform allows property sellers to manage the entire sale process themselves, for a fixed fee of $2000 per sale.

"We’ve seen that there are plenty [of people] who would love to be slightly more involved through the sales process,” Wakelin says, "and we want to empower those sellers.

"It’s a great feeling hearing that we’ve made a big difference to many families in these tough economic times.”

200 Square manages property listings on TradeMe and Realestate.co.nz, facilitates communication between buyers, sellers and other agents, and provides the seller with updates and statistics.

Sellers can also use the platform to place advertising, order signage and manage open homes.

"We’ve built an agency from the ground up to leverage the latest technology and empower modern kiwi buyers and sellers,” Wakelin says, "drastically improving the efficiency of agent work, all without impacting the value and quality of the service.”
